Vistas and video cameras….

Typical riding through the northern Sierras

Oh boy oh boy oh boy….I’ve got a new toy on the way and a new motorcycle trip coming up.  Tahoe (the resort destination, not the Chevy), and Midland (the radio company, not the city in Texas) are both on my mind as I write this.   The Tahoe Rendezvous is an event in August, but J, me, and a few others are doing a run through the region this weekend.  We’ll be publicizing the event (hey, I’ve started already), and it’s going to be a future Destinations piece that I’m doing for Motorcycle Classics magazine.  I really like Motorcycle Classics…their features and the photography far exceeds what you see in any other motorcycle magazine, and the topic is one that’s near and dear to all of us….classic motorcycles.

The riding around Tahoe is superb, and it’s also been the subject of an earlier Destinations piece I did for Motorcycle Classics a few years ago.  There are five major passes through the northern Sierra Nevadas, with tons of twisties and slopes as steep as 26%.  Just awesome stuff, and incredible riding.  And the run up there is similarly dazzling…I’ll be taking the 395 up, and I love that road.

My new Midland video cam is on its way!

I’ve picked up quite a few still photos of this region, and I wanted to get some video on this next ride.  That brings me to the next topic, and that’s a new camera the good folks at Midland are Fedexing to me right now.  I saw one of these a few days ago, and immediately knew I had to have one.  It’s especially designed for extreme action stuff, and I guess that pretty much sums up the kinds of things I like to do.   It’s got all kinds of adaptors for motorcycle and helmet mounts, so it ought to work out pretty well.   We’ll see, and you’ll read all about it right here on the CSC blog!
