The RZ3: Coming soon!

We’re due to receive our first three prototype RZ3 motorcycles within the next couple of weeks, and we’re very excited about these exciting new motorcycles…

I need a fourth motorcycle in my garage about as much as I need a summer cold (my garage is already packed to the gills with my RX3, my TT250, my old KLR 650, my wife’s car, and my Z06), but there’s just something about a naked bike that’s cool.  I want one.

I rode all three of my motorcycles last week, but I probably should sell one to make room for the RZ3.  Like many of you who have bought the TT250 (and as my good buddy Matt noted on Facebook), the TT250 is the bike that usually gets the nod when I get out for a ride.   My RX3 sees a lot of seat time, too (they are great bikes).   About the only motorcycle that gets the obligatory once-a-month, keep-the-battery-from-going-dead-and-the-carb-from-gumming-up ride is my KLR.  My KLR is in terrific shape (it’s 10 years old this year), but the KLR is just such an evil-handling, bloated, top heavy beast that I don’t get out on it very often.   The Zongs are a lot more fun to ride.

Anyway (and please pardon my old guy thinking processes here if I’ve already told you this), I have a firm idea in mind for a custom paint job on the RZ3.  Yeah, I’m going to have to make room for a fourth bike in my garage when these arrive.  I want one.  One of the prettiest color combos I’ve ever seen on a motorcycle is the gray-and-orange motif Buell used quite a few years ago.  Buells never really made it in the market, but I thought their bikes were intriguing and way ahead of their time.  They sound cool, too (there’s something about the way a Harley idles that I really like, and I’m willing to guess you do, too).  I PhotoShopped the Buell gray-and-orange colors onto an RZ3, and I like it.  A lot.  Tell me what you think…

One of the colors we’re doing on the RZ3 is the gray you see above in the photo.  I think that with the frame repainted like you see above (a subtle, minor bit of customizing that will require an incredible amount of labor, unless of course we order them this way from the factory), the RZ3 would go well beyond its already drop dead gorgeous looks.  I could see getting the RZ3’s wheels powder coated orange, and maybe a Seat Concepts seat with orange stitching to round out the package.

We’ll see.   Stay tuned to the blog for more updates.  We’ll be posting a lot about the RZ3.  I’m excited.  These are going to be a great addition to the CSC line.
