How does the VERY popular CSC RX3 Adventure compare to the new RX4?

Joe Berk has THOUSANDS of miles experience on the RX3. Here are his impressions of the new, 450cc CSC RX4 – which will be released in Spring 2019.

The next two posts on the ExhaustNotes blog (this one and the next) address more differences between the CSC RX3 and the new RX4. I am going to compare the weight, dash and instrumentation, fenders, tire sizes, radiators, kickstand, brakes, rear swingarm, and the engine mounts. This post will focus on the weight and the highway performance of the two models. I’ll sweep up the other differences mentioned above in the next blog.

Let’s talk about the 450-lb gorilla in the room first. Not surprisingly, the 450cc RX4 – as fully-equipped with engine guards, racks, and full luggage is heavier bike than the 250cc RX3. Since these bikes are aimed at TWO slightly different types of riders, the question is: Is this a good thing or a bad thing?
