Dateline: Guangzhou!

Three friendly young ladies who handled my hotel check in last night…they had to take my picture as they checked my passport, so I asked if I could take theirs…

After 15 hours in a center seat on a Boeing 777 out of LAX yesterday, I arrived in Guangzhou at around 8:30 p.m. last night.  It wasn’t a bad flight and the food was okay.  It’s funny how many movies you can watch on these “other side of the world” flights, and I sure saw a bunch of them yesterday.  I did a little reading, too, including the latest copies of American Iron and Motorcycle Classics magazines.   Good times, and those 15 hours flew by (literally and figuratively).  Clearing Chinese Customs and Immigration was efficient, finding a cab was easy, and before I knew it, my Chinese Mario Andretti wannabe was shepherding me through the rain-slicked streets of late night Guangzhou.  It’s good to be back.  I almost feel like I’m home again.

The drill is familiar on these secret missions…I always wake up at around 3:00 the first morning, and that’s what happened today.  Using a secret Chinese recipe obtained under torture on a previous mission from one Joe Gresh (you know, so I could get Cranked), it was time for a cup of morning Joe…

Nescafe powder, bottled water, and 240 VAC. What could go wrong?

I’m here for a good time, and the good time this week is the Canton Fair.   It’s where Chinese motorcycle manufacturers (as well as a bunch of other manufacturers) show all of their new products, and it’s my first time ever attending this event.

I’m pumped about being here, and you might be, too.  I’ve got my uber-heavy but utterly fantastic Nikon D810 (along with my two favorite lenses) so I can grab awesome photos (the two photos in this morning’s blog are just goofy iPhone photos). Yep, you’ll soon be seeing some of the coolest, newest, and most fascinating things coming down the pike.

And you know what?  I’m not over here doing this just because we want more cool stuff to put on the CSC blog (although that’s fun, too).   Nope, we’ve got plans.   We already have two or three exciting new products coming your way, and the purpose of this secret mission is to find more.  Lots more.

Stay tuned, folks.   This is going to be fun!
