The 2020 CSC RX4 Has MANY Luggage and Rack Options.

CSC Motorcycles will be offering the new 2020 RX4 as a bare bike, and also with many luggage options.

Here are just a few ideas for outfitting your new 2020  CSC RX4 to match your riding style and touring plans:

CSC RX4

Rear rack on the RX4 – ready for top box or soft duffel

The first addition to any bare bike should be a rear luggage rack. The CSC rear steel rack fits the new RX4. This rack accepts the aluminum Tourfella quick disconnect top case. The rack also allows for the installation of the standard or tall molded resin top cases.

The current retail price for the rear rack is only $99.95, plus installation.

CSC RX4

Adding a locking rear top box adds great versatility to your RX4. Shown above is the Tourfella aluminum top case. This aluminum top box retails for only $249.95. Compare this to other brands for twice this price or more! Plus, you can also buy the matching Tourfella aluminum side cases for $249.95 each.

CSC RX4

CSC RX4 shown with rear rack and molded standard top case

If you prefer a smaller top box, choose from the standard or tall molded cases. The photo above shows the standard resin top case mounted to the rear rack (This is the same case that is standard on the CSC RX3 Adventure.) The standard top case is only $124.95, or you can buy the tall resin top case for only $149.95. Both top cases include locks and a back rest for your passenger. The tall top box has room for a full-face helmet.

CSC RX4

A rear rack is also perfect for lashing on a soft tail pack. Pictured above is the rear rack plus the Moose Racing ADV1 Dry Trail Pack. This is a great, new line of soft luggage that is also an incredible value. There are three sizes of ADV1 dry bag duffels: 25 Liter for $59.95, 40 Liter for $69.95 or the 60 Liter for $79.95. Again, these are FAR below competitive prices.

Also note that a ADV1 dry bag can be lashed across the passenger seat in addition to the rear hard case for long-distance touring.

CSC RX4

The Moose Racing ADV1 line of soft bags includes two choices of roll-top, dry bag panniers. CSC will be offering the matching ADV1 Dry Saddlebags in two sizes: 20 Liter for $99.95 or 30 Liter for $129.95. You can not find a better set of ADV-ready dry bag panniers for less!

CSC RX4

Rear rack and side pannier racks

Both soft and hard side panniers REQUIRE a set of rear support racks. CSC supplies a steel luggage side bracket kit for the RX4 for only $189.95. With these side racks you can install soft panniers, or your choice of the molded side cases or Tourfella aluminum hard cases.

CSC Motorcycles SG250: PROJECT SCRAMBLER

What happens when you turn the CSC Shop loose on the SG250 San Gabriel?

The bikers in the CSC Shop, lead by Wade, decided to customize a SG250 with the goal of creating a retro, cool little Scrambler. The bike is all finished now and it turned out pretty cool! Check it out.

CSC SG250 San Gabriel scrambler

The first change is swapping out the street tires for knobbies. Above is side shot of the bike showing off the new Shinko Knobby tires front and rear. Installed were the Shinko SR244 series tires, 3.00×17 front and 4.60×17 rear.

CSC SG250 San Gabriel scrambler

In the process, Wade removed the stock rear fender, stock turn signals and the tail light assembly. He then installed a CSC custom tail light assembly and low side mount.

CSC SG250 San Gabriel scrambler

In this photo you can see the mini LED billet turn signals mounted under the seat. This really cleans up the rear end of the bike and continues the bare, minimalist Scrambler vibe!

CSC SG250 San Gabriel scrambler

To complete the look, a matching set of front set of the mini LED turn signal lights and a CSC wire mesh light guard were installed.

CSC SG250 San Gabriel scrambler

Wade kept the stock black megaphone muffler, but wrapped the head pipe in performance header wrap. This is an attractive addition, but is also functional to hide any discoloration as well as deflect heat away from the rider.

CSC SG250 San Gabriel scrambler

Wade started with a stock white SG250 with the orange stripes. He removed all the stock stickers from the gas tank and fenders and put a cool racing stripe in black down the left side of the tank – again emphasizing the retro style of the Scrambler.

CSC SG250 San Gabriel scrambler

To complete the package, a CSC Scrambler handle bar kit was installed along with a set of the CSC blue diamond grips.

CSC SG250 San Gabriel scrambler

All together now and the bike really turned out great! It’s truly a one-of-a-kind and is in the CSC Motorcycles showroom – AND it’s for sale! If you are considering a SG250 San Gabriel and want to add some Scrambler style, give us a call or you can place your order online. For complete specs on the 2018 CSC SG250 please follow this link.

The CSC City Slicker: Who Rides an Electric Motorcycle?

Is the CSC City Slicker the perfect city commuter vehicle?

The CSC City Slicker is NOT an electric mountain bike that you can ride on single-track dirt trails. It is designed for city streets, and in this environment it has MANY advantages over any electric bicycle. (See this previous CSC blog post comparison with ebikes.)

CSC City Slicker

CSC City Slicker ELECTRIC Motorcycle

The CSC City Slicker is NOT an electric sport bike that will out-accelerate a Porsche 911 (see the related blog post at Exhaust Notes.) But, then again, it doesn’t cost over $17,000.

So what is the “CSC City Slicker“? And who is it designed for?

The City Slicker is a fully-electric motorcycle. It is powered by a lithium-ion battery paired to an electric motor. Like other motorcycles, it has belt drive and front and rear suspension.

As the name suggests, the City Slicker is perfect for commuting, errands, and fun rides around town.

CSC City Slicker

CSC City Slicker Electric Motorcycle

The City Slicker is fun to ride with wide 12-inch tires and plush suspension, front and rear. Safety is also a key feature with large, motorcycle-type front and rear disk brakes.

CSC City Slicker

The bike has a lockable storage compartment (where the gas tank would be on a standard motorcycle.) The ignition and front fork are also lockable for security while parked.

CSC City Slicker

CSC City Slicker lockable storage (battery charger also shown)

The City Slicker is powered by a massive 3.2 kilowatt electric motor. (Compare this to tiny 500 to 750-watt motors on ebikes.) Top speed is 40 to 42 mph – depending on rider weight. This is ideal for commuting across town. Like any motorcycle, you can ride in the traffic lane of city streets and not hug the curb like a bicycle. The City Slicker is not intended for highway travel. This lower speed also allows the City Slicker to be registered as a “scooter” in many states – check your local regulations for licensing requirements.

In addition, the City Slicker is super safe on the roads with fenders, motorcycle-type LED turn signals, rear view mirrors, headlight and brake lights. You don’t have to add a flash light to the handlebars to ride home after dark, like on a bicycle. Other vehicles can see you from the sides, front and rear – AND you can see where you are going!

CSC City Slicker

CSC City Slicker: full-featured electric motorcycle

Riding range is dependent on speed – that is, higher speeds drain the battery faster.  There are two drive modes – Sport and Eco. Riding around town at 20 mph in Eco mode will give you an approximate 62-mile range. That is huge for an electric motorcycle! Riding faster at 37 mph will reduce the range to about 37 miles. All this translates to a “blended” range of 40 to 50 miles in normal fast and slow city driving – which is more than enough for commuting and running errands. The dash includes a battery level gauge as well as a speedometer, odometer, and trip odometer to track your riding.

CSC City Slicker

The City Slicker has a huge 72-volt, 30-amp hour lithium ion battery that is recharged in 6 to 8 hours with standard 120-volts. (Compare this to ebikes with 48-volt batteries.) The electric motorcycle includes the deep-cycle battery charger. The battery is recharged simply by plugging the charger into a port on the side of the bike. The battery can also be removed in minutes for recharging – or to swap in a spare battery (also available from CSC.) The City Slicker also includes regenerative braking to boost battery life.

CSC City Slicker

Recharging the CSC City Slicker battery

CSC City Slicker

Recharge from any 120-volt outlet – at home, work or school

The 2019 City Slicker is available NOW for only $2,495.00 plus fee’s, in your choice of black and red, blue and white, or red and white. This price is comparable to many electric BICYCLES with a fraction of the features. Some ebikes and 49cc motorized bicycles cost $5,000 to nearly $10,000!!! Don’t forget: this price includes FREE shipping in the lower 48-states!

The CSC City Slicker is great fun to ride.  The City Slicker even includes a cool REVERSE gear for ease of parking. The bike includes a 12-month, unlimited mileage warranty. CSC can even provide financing and fully-assembled delivery to your address!

Go to the CSCMotorcycles.com for more information. Or call CSC at 800-884-4173.

Custom CSC TT250 Enduro: READY FOR ANY ADVENTURE!

The Custom CSC TT250: Making the Best Dual-Sport Value even BETTER!

Recently, the guys in the CSC Motorcycle’s shop tricked-out a TT250 Enduro. Below is a list of how they loaded up this awesome dual-sport bike with the most popular farkels.  This bike is now on display and ready to hit the trail.

CSC TT250 Enduro

2018 CSC TT250 LOADED with trail-ready options

The CSC TT250 Enduro shown below now includes LED spot lights, heavy-duty knobby tires, hand guards, skid plate, and a rear rack and top box.

You can have CSC add this package to any color TT250, Black ,White or the Copper model shown. Each option is also available separately and can be installed easily by the owner or any local independent cycle shop. See CSCMotorcycles.com for all these parts and many more.

CSC TT250 Enduro

CSC TT250 Enduro Ready for ADVENTURE!

The CSC full aluminum skid plate replaces the stock steel bash plate. This wider and longer skid plate is a necessity for off-road travel. The wide mounting tabs and heavy aluminum plate distributes abuse over a larger section of the frame.

CSC TT250 Enduro

LED spot lights were added to the lower forks. These lights more than double the candle power of the headlight. These bright spot lights are wired to the A1 switch already installed on the RH handle bar. Note that the TT250 has a 300-watt alternator as standard equipment to power these lights and other 12-volt accessories. This is an exclusive feature of the CSC TT250.

CSC TT250 Enduro

CSC Super bright 10W LED spot lights with billet aluminum mounting clamps

Hand guards are another necessity for off-road riding. Not only do the hand guards deflect brush on tight trails, but they also protect your levers when – not IF – you lay the bike down.

CSC TT250 Enduro

Every rider also needs 12-volt power to charge phones, cameras, GPS and more. This outlet pairs a standard 12-volt outlet with a USB outlet and mounts securely to the handlebars.

CSC TT250 Enduro

12-volt accessories socket and USB charging socket, installed and wired up.

The CSC TT250 comes with standard “dual-sport” tires. The stock tires are great for 80/20 street and dirt riding. But for serious off-road riding you need to upgrade to heavier knobby tires like the Shinko tires shown below. These knobby tires are also surprisingly comfortable and durable for road riding – so you will never need to switch back!

Finally, a rear rack was installed. This is the custom CSC billet aluminum rack that has mounting spots for tool bags and soft duffels. However, on this show bike, CSC also installed the molded top case – see second photo below.

Since the TT250 has a 2-up seat for passengers and passenger foot pegs, the hard top case features a back rest for your passenger. The top box includes a lock with keys.

The CSC TT250 Enduro is an unmatched value in the dual-sport market. The stock bike is FAR from bare and already includes many features that would cost extra on other models. In addition, the CSC TT250 INCLUDES 50-State EPA-approval, including California CARB certification.

You can own a CSC TT250 Enduro for ONLY $2,195.00, plus fees. CSC will ship your new TT250 to your address for FREE! Choose from three colors in stock. Add any or all of the options above and CSC will install them during the assembly and inspection process.

RevZilla Reviews the 2018 CSC SG250 San Gabriel

2018 CSC SG250 San Gabriel: The Return of the Café Racer

UPDATE: for 2019 the SG250 is NEW and IMPROVED. Read to the end for information on the new features included on the 2019 CSC SG250’s!

Recently, RevZilla – the leading online motorcycle parts and accessory retailer – took delivery of a new CSC SG250 San Gabriel and put it through an uncrating and ride review. The full review was featured in the RevZilla “Common Tread” blog.

RevZilla received the SG250 in a crate – just like any consumer would. CSC ONLY sells motorcycles direct to the consumer. CSC Motorcycles first inspects, pre-assembles, and tests each motorcycle. The motorcycle is then crated and shipped to the buyer. Bypassing a dealer network allows CSC to pack the maximum value into each model while delivering a wealth of features for the absolute lowest possible price.

CSC SG250 San Gabriel

RevZilla receives the CSC SG250 for testing (RevZilla photo)

The 2018 CSC SG250 San Gabriel has a LOW retail price of only $1,995.00, plus fees. These fees are the lowest in the motorcycle industry. CSC charges a documentation fee of $55.00 so that the new owner can obtain a title, license, and insurance in all 50-states. (The CSC SG250 is EPA-certified in all 50-states.) CSC charges $345.00 for incoming freight, assembly and inspection. When your bike arrives, you just install the rear-view mirrors, top off the gas and start riding!

In less than one hour after delivery, you can be riding your new CSC SG250 San Gabriel!

CSC SG250 San Gabriel

Remove the crate, add mirrors and RIDE! (RevZilla photo)

RevZilla was impressed with the CSC SG250. It is just a LOT of motorcycle for $1,995.00! In many ways, the CSC SG250 San Gabriel motorcycle is a throw-back to the 1960’s. The San Gabriel is handsome, yet rugged. The staff of RevZilla agreed that the it is equipped with everything you need for heart-pumping, purist motor bike riding – and nothing you don’t!

CSC SG250 San Gabriel

2018 CSC SG250 San Gabriel: Old School has never been more affordable!!!

Based on price alone, the CSC SG250 San Gabriel is really in a class by itself. The only motorcycles that compare in the same price range are used “project bikes” – some from as far back as the 1970’s! While some experienced riders dream of rebuilding a “vintage” bike, some of these projects may require massive restoration and cost four or five times what you can pay for a NEW SG250! Plus, the 2018 CSC SG250 includes a 12-month unlimited mileage, parts warranty!

But how does the CSC SG250 ride? That was the main question for Spurgeon and the other riders at RevZilla.

Spurgeon took off across town and summarized his riding impression: “I was grinning the entire time. So many of the big-horsepower bikes we ride hate the city. They buck and snort at stop signs like an angry bronco ready to leap to the next red light, growing increasingly frustrated with the stop-and-go routine. But not this bike. The SG250 sat patiently, humming its relaxed song via the low-slung, blacked-out megaphone muffler.”

“The CSC became my bike of choice for riding around the city.”

CSC SG250 San Gabriel

Spurgeon enjoying the “urban blaster” SG250 San Gabriel (RevZilla photo)

But Spurgeon and the other RevZilla riders added some concerns about riding the SG250 which should be addressed:

  • The transmission was described as “clunky”. Because of the small 230cc air-cooled motor that delivers 16 horsepower, the 5-speed transmission on the San Gabriel is intentionally “close-geared”. By necessity, the rider will work up and down the gears. However, the transmission is also under very little strain from the 230cc power plant and takes some time to break-in and will become smoother with more miles – particularly after the first oil-change.
  • The suspension of the San Gabriel was described as both soft and harsh. This is a function of the lightweight motorcycle built with limited suspension travel. RevZilla admitted, “This is another place where the light weight works to the bike’s advantage, by making the budget suspension livable.”
  • The test bike that RevZilla reviewed topped out at about 65 mph. With that in mind, the reviewers stated, “The SG250 San Gabriel prefers back country roads or city commuting to long treks on the freeway.” CSC would agree – unless the owner was willing to change gearing to enable more top speed at the cost of losing low-end torque. Riders should also note that this same 230cc motor is found in the CSC TT250 Enduro dual-sport motorcycle. Riders with different goals have geared the same 230cc motor for power off-road and speed on the freeway.
  • Spurgeon calculated his test ride fuel mileage at about 59 MPG’s. Other owners of the SG250 (and TT250) have reported fuel mileage of 65 to over 70 miles per gallon so we have to assume Spurgeon’s mileage will increase as the bike is broken-in. When combined with a four-gallon gas tank, this provides the rider with a range exceeding 200 miles.

RevZilla also raised the question of the long-term durability of the SG250. The 230cc motor used in the CSC SG250 (and the CSC TT250 Enduro) is a modernized version of the “world-design” CG 125cc motorcycle engine first developed by Honda back in 1975 for the growing market of Southeast Asia. The concept of routine maintenance was completely foreign to these new motor bike owners. The “CG” motorcycle engine was specifically designed to require minimal maintenance.

Over 40 years later, the original CG125 motor patent has long-expired. Today, Zongshen, the manufacturer of the CSC SG250, builds both a 125cc and a 230cc version – but CSC distributes only the 230cc version in its modern motorcycles, with the additional update of a counter-balancer.

CSC SG250 San Gabriel

The San Gabriel has maximum “fun factor” (RevZilla photo)

RevZilla noted that the simple and economical SG250 may be the perfect motorcycle for new riders. But CSC has also learned that a second (and larger) category of CSC SG250 San Gabriel buyers are experienced bikers who already own several motorcycles.

As Spurgeon noted, the San Gabriel is streamlined, minimalist, and retro. Experienced riders are attracted to the SG250 because of what it ISN’T. The SG250 San Gabriel isn’t high-tech. No electronic suspension; no surround-sound stereo; no trip computer; and no hassles! The San Gabriel is motorcycle riding at its roots.
