Father’s Day Specials!

From now through Father’s Day, we’re running a super sale!   All of our CSC accessories are 20% off MSRP, and folks, we have awesome accessories!

Hey, more good news…the boss got so excited listening to me talk about my new Midland camera that he decided we’re going to include that as part of our accessories line.  Yep, we’re pleased to announce that we now carry the Midland XTC-300 extreme action sports video cameras I mentioned yesterday…and they are included in our Father’s Day sale!

I’ll be using my Midland XTC-300 this weekend on the Tahoe run.   The XTC-300 is normally $249.95, but with our Father’s Day sale, you can get one of these for only $200!  That’s a heck of a deal on the latest video action camera (yep, this is the newest…the latest and greatest).  It’s a 1080p camera, and it comes with all the stuff you need for creating great videos right from your CSC motorcycle seat!

Folks, the Midland XTC-300 video camera is awesome, and we’d sure like to see your CSC videos using this great new product.   You can buy it from us directly, and we’ll post your California Scooter videos right here on the blog!  Just give my good buddy TK a call at 800 884 4173!

Tom’s Triumph

Our good buddy Triumph Tom

From time to time you’ve seen our good buddy Tom on these pages…Tom is a good friend of the company, one of my riding buddies, and just a cool guy.  He’s a retired LAPD detective and he’s the first guy that introduced me to the wonderful world of WRX Subies when he tossed me the keys to his white STI (wow, was that car fast!).  If you’ve seen our videos, it’s usually Tom who’s riding right in front of me.

Tom’s had an interesting project going for the last year…he bought what was literally a barn find Triumph Trident, and he’s running it at El Mirage this weekend.   I saw Tom this morning and he told me the engine is 100% stock.   Tom is hoping to touch 125 mph during this weekend’s run, and ultimately, to top 140 mph.

Tom's LSR Triumph...a true barn find converted into a Land Speed Record contender!

I asked Tom what that barn find business was all about, and it’s the real deal.  He actually pulled it out of a barn in Lodi, and it had little animals living in and around it.  The bike hadn’t run in 5 years, but Tom got it running.  Tom said he put about 100 miles on it after that, never wandering more than about 5 miles away from his house in case the bike broke down.   That was before the project he undertook to bring the motorcycle to its current configuration.

However fast it goes, this sure is one beautiful motorcycle.

Vistas and video cameras….

Typical riding through the northern Sierras

Oh boy oh boy oh boy….I’ve got a new toy on the way and a new motorcycle trip coming up.  Tahoe (the resort destination, not the Chevy), and Midland (the radio company, not the city in Texas) are both on my mind as I write this.   The Tahoe Rendezvous is an event in August, but J, me, and a few others are doing a run through the region this weekend.  We’ll be publicizing the event (hey, I’ve started already), and it’s going to be a future Destinations piece that I’m doing for Motorcycle Classics magazine.  I really like Motorcycle Classics…their features and the photography far exceeds what you see in any other motorcycle magazine, and the topic is one that’s near and dear to all of us….classic motorcycles.

The riding around Tahoe is superb, and it’s also been the subject of an earlier Destinations piece I did for Motorcycle Classics a few years ago.  There are five major passes through the northern Sierra Nevadas, with tons of twisties and slopes as steep as 26%.  Just awesome stuff, and incredible riding.  And the run up there is similarly dazzling…I’ll be taking the 395 up, and I love that road.

My new Midland video cam is on its way!

I’ve picked up quite a few still photos of this region, and I wanted to get some video on this next ride.  That brings me to the next topic, and that’s a new camera the good folks at Midland are Fedexing to me right now.  I saw one of these a few days ago, and immediately knew I had to have one.  It’s especially designed for extreme action stuff, and I guess that pretty much sums up the kinds of things I like to do.   It’s got all kinds of adaptors for motorcycle and helmet mounts, so it ought to work out pretty well.   We’ll see, and you’ll read all about it right here on the CSC blog!

Starside Design, Bobbers, and more…

Starside Design does all of our paint work, including our factory customs.   I’d like you to meet Doug Starbuck, who runs the operation…

Doug with one of the new Bobber tanks...more on this further below

The Starside Design paint facility

Doug and his custom-painted truck

Starside Design is right here in southern California, and Doug’s work is top notch.  He’s more critical and picky about what he does than we ever will be, and we’re very picky.  Doug is also very well known in the custom car crowd (if you Google Starside Design, photos of cars he’s done are all over the Internet).   Those guys trust his work, and so do we.  That’s the way it’s supposed to be!

Now, a bit more on the new CSC Bobbers…the very first one went to In-N-Out Burger Corporation for their charity auction.   You know from following the blog…that bike went for a cool $7,750!  Doug did the paint on it, and it is (in my opinion) the nicest of the three In-N-Out corporate customs we’ve done…

Art on the Burger Bobber, with a custom Starside Designs paint job!

We’re only doing four more Bobbers, and the first of the four sold before it went into production.  Twin Peaks Steve recognized a good thing when he read about it right here on the CSC blog, and his bike is in production now.   I grabbed these shots this afternoon…

Twin Peaks Steve's Bobber is in production!

Steve’s Bobber is the only one we’re doing in this run with gloss black paint.   With wide whitewalls and wire wheels, it’s going to be a show stopper.

Wire wheels, wide whitewalls, and gloss black paint...it's gonna be beautiful!

And the tanks for the next three Bobbers (two in satin blue and one in flat black) were back from Doug today, so I grabbed a shot of them as well.   That satin blue is a pretty slick color!

Satin blue flat black...these Bobbers are going to rock!

Pretty things, folks, and there’s more to come.   Stay tuned!

More great stuff from Kingman…

During my conversation with my good buddy Howard about the 2012 Mustang Nationals, I asked him to send me any other photos he had.   Hey, folks, check these out!

Nevada Howard and his Red Classic!

Lunch at the Kingman Harley dealership

And this last one, which I particularly like…

Do you see the family resemblance?

Super photos, Howard, and thanks again for sharing these with us!  And for all of our riders…do you have a photo you would like to see on the blog?  Just send it and we’ll post it.  We especially like to see our riders, so if you have a photo showing you and your bike, shoot it to us!

A note from the President..

The Village President, that is.   Our good buddy Jim attended the Milwaukee Scooter Rally and he sent this nice note and a group of photos to us…

Hi T.K.,

Saturday my friend Scott and I participated in an Annual Scooter Rally and BBQ that a local dealership, Moto-Scoot puts on. (I know the owner because he also deals in vintage motorcycles and I’ve bought some parts from him for my 400KZ). My friend Scott has a sweet 1968 Honda CL125A, the smallest twin Honda ever built I believe. And I of course took “CSC ONE.” The weather was perfect; there was a crowd of over 150 people, and my California Classic was the “talk of the town”. I answered a lot of questions about the bike, the company, and great times they would have if they owned one. (You can send me some of your business cards if you likeJ).

I have included some photos in my email; their sure was a variety of scooters on hand but nothing like mine. The 57 Cushman was cool, and the Ruckus is bad at 187cc’s! Our hosts took the whole group on a ride (with escorts blocking the intersections) through downtown Milwaukee, over to the lakefront, and through the various small dining and shopping districts Milwaukee has to offer. It was a great ride and my Yellow classic performed flawlessly.

Jim

Folks, take a look at these great photos from Jim…that’s his yellow CSC Classic in a few of them!

Jim, thanks for taking the time to send your great photos to us, and thanks for being a loyal CSC rider!

Fast fotos…

Like the title says, just a few quick weekend pics…

I grabbed this first one late in the week when I took a brand new Babydoll out for a test spin.  Here’s a sight you don’t see too often…a CSC motorcycle parked at a gas pump!

Tony and I took the Babydoll into LA on Friday morning.  It’s being featured in a…well, I’ll tell you more about that in a few days.

On the way into LA, I saw the new Scion/Subaru sports car with distributor plates running alongside our truck on the San Bernardino freeway…

You know, it’s a funny thing…looking at the photo of that car above, it looks pretty cool.  In person, though, it didn’t do anything for me.   Maybe when I see one of the Subie versions in rallye blue I’ll change my mind.   TK and I are both big time Subie fans.

I am headed up to Tahoe on Friday to ride with my friend J Brandon and a few others, and to scout out a few roads for a potential CSC trip in August.   We’ve got a few riders in the Reno and Sacramento area, and we’re hoping to cruise up there with a So Cal CSC contingent, too.  Let me know if you want to ride with us.

I’m taking the KLR on this trip just to put a few miles on the bike and to keep the gas from going stale.  I put new tires on it this weekend, and I’ll change the oil before I leave….

Oh, and here’s one more photo I grabbed at our local pizza joint….I don’t know if the driver of this Beemer rides, but he (or she!) ought to with a plate like this!

That’s it for now, folks…more photos to follow, include a bunch from Tahoe next weekend!

The 2012 Kingman Meet

The 2012 Mustang Nationals just wrapped up today in Kingman, Arizona, and our good buddy and loyal CSC rider Howard Courtney attended on his 2-month-old, red CSC Classic.   Howard is from Nevada, and I had a nice conversation on the phone with him a few minutes ago.   Here’s a photo of Howard and his buddies taking a break on Route 66…

Howard is second from the left in the above photo.  He also sent along a couple more showing these intrepid riders taking a water break…hey, it’s June, it’s Arizona, and it’s hot out there!

Looks like the boys and girls are having a blast…sure wish I had gone.   Next year for sure!

Howard told me his CSC Classic was a huge hit at this event, and as always, a lot of folks fell in love with the modern Mustang.   When I asked Howard what he liked best about the bike, he told me that he likes the ride and the seating position.  Howard said that the footpeg location is about perfect, and that’s been my opinion, too.

Howard, thanks very much for sending these great photos to us!

Hey, one more…

Yep, I wanted to make 30 posts this month, and this one is it!  So what am I gonna share with you?  How about one of my absolute favorite YouTube videos…

You might wonder what’s so special about that one to me.   Well, in addition to featuring our Military Series bikes (which I love), I just now realized in looking at the calendar that it was exactly 39 years ago today that I joined the US Army!   Like the bullfrogs say…time’s fun when you’re having flies!
