Norm’s New Mustang

Norm's '59 Vette

Norm's '59 Vette

One of the really fun parts of being around the California Scooter Company is seeing what people do with their bikes. You may recall we recently sold a bike to Norm, who showed up at the plant with a very cool early Corvette (we ran a photo of Norm’s Vette in the blog a few weeks ago). Norm bought a California Scooter Classic with the intent of painting it to match his truck, and he did. It’s an awesome bike, especially with the tank logo Norm used.

Steve received a real nice note from Norm yesterday along with photos of his customized California Scooter, and I can’t say it any better than Norm did…

Hi, Steve,

Just wanted your e-mail address so I can attach photos.  Color matches my truck, in the background of first pic.  Oh, yeah, I put a “Mustang” decal on the tank. Hope no one there is offended!

Best Regards,

Norm

Norm, no one here is offended.  We think your bike looks great!  Thanks for sharing your photos with us, and enjoy your new motorcycle!

And hey, if any of you other guys and gals have a photo you’d like to see on our blog, just shoot it to us!

Indy!!!

For all you dealers out there…California Scooter Company will be at the Indianapolis Dealer Expo from February 18th to the 20th (yep, it’s less than three weeks away)! We’ll have a dynamite display, with lots of CSC motorcycles and accessories and our latest models (including the Military Series). We may have a surprise or two for you, too! We’re expanding our dealer network, and with gas punching through $4 a gallon in some areas, this is a good time to get on board.

In addition to the Military Series, we’ve got some great new color combos, too.  Remember the yellow wheels on the original Mustang?  Yep, we’ve got those in stock now.  The color combo works well, and it won’t be too long before you see a green California Scooter built to match Steve’s 1953 Pony.

Lots of exciting things coming up, folks…we’ve got the Salton Sea Rally in March.  During that same month, a bunch of us are hopping on our California Scooters and cruising down to Guerrero Negro to see the whales.  Seeing the whales in Scammon’s Lagoon is an experience like no other, and getting down there and back on a California Scooter will be a grand adventure.  You can get up close and personal with the whales…it’s a spiritual experience.

I was thinking about the next Baja trip yesterday, so I assembled a quick photo montage of our California Scooter trip through Baja last September.

If the above trip looks like fun, well, it was.  And if you want to go with us, I know just the motorcycle you’ll want to ride down there…

Photos from Arlene…

Check out Arlene’s YouTube of photos from her recent trip to San Francisco…it’s dynamite!

What do you call someone who’s ridden a 150cc CSC motorcycle as far south as Cabo San Lucas, and as far north as San Francisco?

Me, I call her one heck of a great rider…and my riding buddy for the upcoming Salton Sea Rally (that’s a 396-mile 1-day endurance run around the Salton Sea) and our upcoming March 2011 ride down to Scammon’s Lagoon to see the whales (we’re gonna ride south of the border about 500 miles to see the California gray whales in their winter vacation spot)!

It’s gonna be fun, folks. Would you like to ride with us? Just let us know…it’s the perfect way to put a few miles on a new California Scooter!

All the way to SF…

Arlene Battishill just finished her 575-mile ride from southern California to San Franscisco…you can read about it on her GoGo Gear Facebook page…and check out this quote on her California Scooter:

Just got back to LA from the big ride up Pacific Coast Highway from LA to San Francisco! My California Scooter Company GoGo bike is the greatest thing EVER!!! Had a total blast AND bike performed beautifully! SO many people along the way commenting on the bike! When I told one guy that I had ridden the bike from Tijuana to Cabo San Lucas he said “NOW I’m impressed!” that and the 72mph I’ve clocked on the freeway!!! I LOVE MY BIKE!!!

Here’s one of my favorite shots from this story…Arlene at the Golden Gate…

Brrrrr!!!!!

Wow, what a difference a few days can make.  Last week I was in Sacramento with my good friends Steve, Maureen, Tom, Barbara, Ed, and Joyce for the International Sportsmen’s Exposition.   When I got back to So Cal, we had an 80-degree day.   80 degrees, in January!   You just gotta love southern California.

Yesterday, I departed on a secret mission (don’t tell anyone) all the way up to Fort Saint John, Canada (it took four separate airplane rides to get here).  The temperatures are a little different.   The high in FSJ today was minus 5 degrees, and folks up here are feeling good about their “heat wave!”  A heat wave?  Yep, to these guys, it’s a heat wave.  That’s because a week or two ago, it was a cool (and I’m speaking literally now) minus 41 degrees in this part of Canada, and the temperature stayed there for a couple of weeks.  This is cold, folks.

So here I am, doing my best to stay warm, trying not to get tangled up with any of the moose out on the roads in this neck of the woods.   Back in the hotel, it’s nice and toasty, and of course, I’ve got my laptop.  The Internet is one of the great wonders of the world, because I’m getting some great stuff from my friends out here in the hinterlands.  Take this flyer, for example, for the Salton Sea TT from my friend Alan Spears…

Yep, I'm gonna ride it...are you?

Yep, I'm gonna ride it...are you?

I am really looking forward to the Salton Sea run, because California Scooter Company will be well represented and it’s going to be fun.  I’m gonna be riding and so is my friend Arlene.   And speaking of Arlene, she’s riding north on California’s Pacific Coast Highway right now, and she’s having a blast doing it…you can follow her tweets at http://twitter.com/lascootergirls.  Arlene has been posting a photo or two on her Facebook page, too.  Here’s one I particularly like…

I sure wish I was on that ride.  Next time, Arlene!

That’s all for tonight, folks.  Enjoy your warm weather!

Homeward bound…

It’s a late night after a long (but fun) day…I’ve got an 8:50 flight home that’s been delayed to 9:25, and usually that means it’s 9:25 at the earliest.  Southwest Air is usually a high quality outfit, though, so I expect they won’t be too much later than 9:25.   They actually rang up my cell phone to tell me they’d be late, and that’s the first time that’s ever happened.

The crowds at the Sacramento show were awesome…we had four days of non-stop, ultra-solid interest in our California Scooters, with Saturday being absolutely over the top.  It was shoulder-to-shoulder in front of our booth, and a lot of folks got to see the Greaser, the Babydoll, the Classic, and our new Military Series up close and personal.   I’ll bet ten thousand people saw our bikes.  Quite a few people wanted to know all about the Baja trip, too, and I’ll admit it:  I like talking about that trip.  You know, we’re going into Baja again in March – we’ll go about 550 miles south of the border to see the whales in Scammon’s Lagoon.  Buy a California Scooter, and you can go with us!

There sure was a lot to see and do at the Sacramento show.   The hunting exhibits were cool, and I’m pumped up enough to start planning a wild boar hunt in the near future.   We’ll see how that goes.  The dock dogs were cool, and I have some cool videos of these guys sailing through the air.  Wait ‘til you see the YouTubes, and you’ll know what I mean.

No photos today, folks, because I’m sitting in the airport and I don’t want to unpack the camera, download the photos, PhotoShop them, and all that.   But I will once I get settled back in at home base.

Our next event will be the Indianapolis Dealer show in February (it’s for dealers only), and we’ll be signing up new dealerships while we’re there.  Steve signed up a new dealer on the way to Sacramento last week, and we’ll be announcing that formally in the near future.   With gasoline headed toward five bucks a gallon, it’s a sure thing that more dealerships will want to carry California Scooters.  We’re pretty picky about who we sign up as a dealer, though, because we want every aspect of your CSC ownership experience to be positive.

Later, boys and girls.  I’ve got an airplane to catch.

The people up here have been great and we’re getting a warm reception – as always, everyone loves seeing your favorite motorcycle!   It’s been busy, but tomorrow is when the real crowds arrive.   I’ve got a lot more photos, boys and girls (and I think you are going to enjoy them).   I am going to shoot a whole bunch more tomorrow.   But that’s enough for tonight…more to come in a few days!

A Note from Chevyman…

We received this very nice note from Dennis (aka Chevyman) in South Carolina, along with a few photos of his custom California Scooter…and we wanted to share the note and the photos with you!

I’ve enclosed a few pictures of my black Classic since I had flames painted on the gas tank and both fenders and a few upgrades I’ve also made.  As you can see in the pictures, the flames, chrome exhaust and crash bars have made the scooter one hundred times classier now than when it was loaded on the truck and sent to my house.  My only regret is not ordering chrome solid wheels when I purchased the scooter.  I have had a blast riding all over the countryside and especially all the compliments I get about the scooter’s good looks.  I’m constantly answering the many questions I get from people wanting to know what is it and where did I buy it.  Like the rest of the country, South Carolina has seen a big change in scooter demands and sales.  If CSC could find a dealer or two in South Carolina your sales would surely increase dramatically.

I want to thank all of you at California Scooter Co. for making such a unique and quality built scooter like the Classic.  I love showing off your product.

God Bless America

Dennis, thanks for your kind words, and we’ll work that dealer issue in your state!  Ride safe and enjoy your gorgeous California Scooter.  Folks, here are the photos Chevyman sent to us…this is a great looking California Scooter!
