Whoa! A “twofer” today!

Wow…it’s not even lunchtime yet and Steve has already signed up two new dealers!

That Indy show sure has been a good thing for us…we’ve signed up six dealers in the last 30 days!   And why not?   With small bikes and economical transportation becoming more attractive as fuel prices continue to climb, our 90+ mpg CSC motorcycles are even more attractive.   Smart dealers are picking up on this, and they’re gearing up for what we predict will be a tremendous uptick in small motorcycle sales.

A very cool sign!

We’re happy to announce that Blackbeard Powersports in Clinton Township, Michigan, is one of two dealers who signed on today.  Steve has been busy following up on the Indy show, and he sure is having a good time bringing new dealers like Blackbeard into the fold.

I spoke with David Corneille just a few minutes ago…he’s the owner of Blackbeard Powersports, and he’s a great guy.  Dave’s an enthusiastic rider, too.   Like a lot of us, Dave started his riding career on dirt bikes before migrating to street bikes.   Dave’s personal ride is a 2003 Harley Fatboy that he’s owned since it was new (I love those Softails; I had a ’92 that I rode for 16 years).  I enjoyed talking with Dave today…he told me that Blackbeard’s mission is to sell affordable fun and high quality products, and that certainly describes a California Scooter!

The Kickstand's Rally Van

We’re equally happy to announce that The Kickstand in Burgin, Kentucky, also joined the California Scooter family today.  The Kickstand…what a great name for a motorcycle shop!   Ray and Lynn Montgomery are the owners, and like Dave Corneille above, they are both riders.  Ray rides a 2005 K1200LT BMW (he’s been a rider for a cool 42 years).  And, get this…Lynn rides a silver 2010 Electra Glide (she’s been riding for 45 years!).    The Kickstand is known as a great motorcycle destination in Kentucky, so if you’re anywhere near there, you might want to swing by.  Ray and Lynn also have a dynamite rally van, which they custom built.   You can bet you’ll be seeing CSC bikes in it when they attend local events.

CSC motorcycles have been selling exceptionally well for the last several weeks, and TK is staying very busy with retail sales.   We sell direct when we don’t have a dealer in an area, and there are still choice territories available.   If you’re a dealer and you want to get on with us, give us a call.   And, like we always say here on the CSC blog…stay tuned, folks…more to come!

The Right Bike for Right Now!

With gas pushing through $4 per gallon, truer words were never spoken! Wow, take a look at our latest print ad…it’s going to be in Outdoor Life, Motorcycle Classics, and the Good Guys Goodtimes Gazette!

The bike above is a red Classic we’ve accessorized with a chrome luggage rack and chrome wire wheels.   It sure is pretty.   We’ve got another blue one in the back getting ready to ship that’s got bags, a chrome rack, and a few other chrome pieces, and it’s a real stunning machine, too.   It’s amazing just how good these bikes look, whether you leave them completely stock or add options from our extensive accessory line.  You can make your CSC motorcycle unique by specifying the accessories and custom touches you want.   My bike (I ride a red Classic) has the chrome rack, a windshield, red wheels, and a leather-fringed seat.   It’s my mini-dresser, and I love riding it (as you guys already know)!

M&M Motorsports Adds CSC!

M&M Motorsports in Kansas City, Missouri, is our newest California Scooter dealer!

Mike and Dianna of M&M Motorsports in Kansas City, Missouri

I had a real nice conversation with Mike at M&M just a few minutes ago and he’s really pumped up about being a CSC motorcycle dealer.  Mike is a real enthusiast; he owns Cushmans and older Hondas, he’s a rider, and his operation has been in business for 14 years.  Mike told me has a true passion for vintage bikes, and he’s convinced his new line of California Scooters will be perfect for his business.   Mike also told me that he went to the Indy Dealer Expo specifically to check out the CSC motorcycle line and, as he put it, “look Steve right in the eye.”  Mike said when he met Steve and saw the bikes, he knew he wanted to be a California Scooter dealer.

M&M Motorsports runs a lot of events and they plan to organize several get-togethers around their new line of CSC motorcycles.   Mike wants you to know if you are in the Midwest and you want to see a California Scooter, please give him a call at 816 358 8500.  M&M Motorsports is located at 5058 Blue Ridge Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri.

Mike and Dianna, your first CSC motorcycle shipment is on its way (the first of many!), and you should receive them early next week.   We’re very pleased to welcome you and M&M Motorsports to the California Scooter family!

The Love Machine…

That’s what we calling our latest custom bike, replete with Mustang logos and custom paint.   We recently shipped this magnificent CSC motorcycle to Raymond Love in Texas, and he was kind enough to send us a few photos of the truck pulling up and the bike being unloaded…

The truck backing into Raymond's driveway, with Raymond and his friend Ben eagerly waiting...

Raymond checking out his new CSC motorcycle right off the truck...

Raymond and his new CSC motorcycle!

Another shot of Raymond's new motorcycle...

Raymond, your bike is beautiful, and you’re going to have a lot of fun with it.  And if anybody wants to follow Raymond’s adventures, you can do so on his personal blog!

Tahoe!

Check this one out, guy and gals!  After the Salton Sea Rally, the Motor Scooter International Land Speed Federation is having its next rally in May 2012.  This one will be around Lake Tahoe!  Yep, it’s more than a year away, but hey, why not start planning for it now?

This is one I really want to ride on my California Scooter, and I hope I’ll see you there.   The mileage is doable, too…we did 357 miles one day on the Baja ride, and Bill Murar racked up 654 miles on a California Scooter (in a single day!) when he rode the Lake Erie Loop.

MSILSF is a first class organization, and Alan Spears (the guy who heads these events) is a first class guy.  It’s gonna be fun!

A few young Turks…

I can’t make this stuff up, guys…

I’ve been to Istanbul, but I’ve never seen this before.

Wow!

A Cushman video from Sturgis…

My good friend Jim sent this YouTube video of the Cushman Rally last year in Sturgis, South Dakota.  If you’re into motorcycles, you’ve certainly heard of Sturgis, and if you’re into classic bikes, you’ve undoubtedly heard of Cushman.  Cushman made small bikes from 1936 until 1965, and golf carts and other utility vehicles for a long time after that.   Cushman had a lot of cool models, too, including one called the Road King (hey, didn’t someone else pick up that name?).  They even had a paratrooper model!   Imagine that, being a US Army paratrooper and getting paid to ride a Cushman scooter!

This YouTube shows the Cushman parade through downtown Sturgis during the Cushman Rally.  It’s different than the main Sturgis Rally (you know, the one for the big bikes), and to me, it looks like the Cushman Rally was a lot more fun.

If you’ve never been to Sturgis, you probably need to do so at least once.  I went to the big bike Sturgis event about three years ago and it was packed!  I sure liked the surrounding area, too.   There’s a lot to see and do and South Dakota’s Black Hills.

Jim, thanks for alerting us to this YouTube video!

The Sincerest Form of Flattery…

Kevin Smith and his Triumph in Baja

I just finished reading a very interesting blog. Triumph (one of my favorite big bike manufacturers) recently came out with a new dual sport bike (their Tiger 800 XC). To wring it out a bit and publicize its capabilities, Triumph took their new Tiger on a ride through…you guessed it…Baja!

I really enjoyed reading the Triumph Baja story and their blog about it.  The writing is superior and the photos are great.  I recommend you take a few minutes and read it.  You’ve heard me ramble on about Baja, and it’s good to know that other people appreciate just how magical a place it truly is.  Trust me on this…you owe it to yourself to ride Baja.

Simon Gandolfi and my CSC in Baja

Triumph’s ride was about half the length of ours (ours was 2200 miles; theirs was 1100 miles).  Triumph took their Tiger off road a bit more than we did (we took our CSC motorcycles off road about 50 miles, and they did about 150 miles).  All in all, it sounds like they had a lot of fun.  That new Tiger looks like it’s a pretty cool bike.   I’ve owned a few Triumphs, and I can tell you they make a good motorcycle.

I’ve been to most of the places Triumph mentioned in their Baja ride, and I think it’s worth a read. I love reading anything about Baja, and I think you will, too. And of course, if you want to get the full recap on our story when we ran our California Scooters the entire length of the peninsula and back, you can read it right here.

Our New Performance Pipe!

Wow, check this out…it’s our new upswept chrome performance pipe, and it looks and sounds great!

Steve redesigned the pipe so that it has a nice upswept angle to it, matching the angle on our rear frame tubes.  I like the look a lot; it just fits the bike perfectly.   The chrome sure looks good on that blue Classic (our blue is a dynamite color)!

RoadRunner Mag….

Okay, so we didn’t get any great shots at the Indy show…but RoadRunner magazine did…they posted this one on their Facebook page!

Thanks, RoadRunner magazine!
