Geezers

Yep, I had lunch with the Geezers again today.  It’s our Saturday routine…meet up over at Bob’s, shoot the bull a bit, and then head out to Applebee’s for lunch.   I don’t know why I even look at the menu any more…I always order the same thing (a half order of the chicken oriental salad, which really hits the spot).

The fun thing about hanging around with guys my age is they are all so interesting, and they all have interesting rides.   My buddy Reid owns four motorcycles, but the one I like best is his fully-restored 1991 BMW R100GS-PD (the PD stands for Paris-to-Dakar, perhaps the world’s greatest race rally that runs from Paris to Dakar…in Africa, no less)!

Reid’s Beemer is exquisite.   He’s a master machinist and you can see it in the detail work on Reid’s bike.   I keep meaning to bring my Nikon to get a proper picture of it, and I keep forgetting to do so.   When we met last week, I used my iPhone to grab this shot…

We had a particularly lively group today, and my good buddy Dennis (a retired fire fighter) showed up on his blue-and-white R1200S performance bike.   Dennis told me that it took him a while to get used to it…when he first got this puppy, every ride was at 120 mph!   Dennis does some serious riding…he’s done the Iron Butt Rally a few times, and this guy has been known to hop on his bike and ride to Idaho for a cup of coffee!

Dennis is a fun guy.   He’s the only guy I know who knows more jokes than I do.

So, you’re probably wondering what all the excitement brewing in Azusa is all about…and you’ll find out soon enough!  In the meantime, here’s a quick look to keep you guessing….

VintagePixels

I did the photo above with my iPhone, too.   I tried to sharpen it up a bit in Photoshop, but I must have hit the wrong button…

Vintage photos…

You gotta love vintage motorcycle photos, especially when they show original Mustangs and related things (like the Mustang factory).   Take a look at some of these from Steve’s collection…

Mustang1

That photo above is really cool….it kind of reminds me of some of our company rides (speaking of which, as soon as we get through this rainy season, we’ll schedule the next one).

Here’s a cool photo showing a Mustang showroom…

Mustang2

Looks like there are a few big British twins sprinkled in there, too.   Good days and good times, folks…

And here’s another one showing the Mustang factory….

Mustang3

Nope…neither of those guys are Jimbo, but you can bet he was in the building when that shot was taken!

Much more to follow, folks…so stay tuned!  We’ve got a surprise announcement that we’ll release Monday morning, and we’ll post a link to the press release right here!

Just a hint…

…of things to come…

Yes, indeed, between the rain storms, I watched a 53-ft tractor-trailer back into the CSC plant yesterday with a most special delivery…

Watch for our press releases, the blog, and lots of good stuff in the motorcycle magazines, folks!  The photos above are just a hint, but here’s two more…when Steve does things, he goes all in….and Billy Buster, wait ’til you see this!

That didn’t take long!

Ain’t that the truth…you gotta act fast on these special deals!

Sold!!

They’re both gone, folks, but don’t worry….we’re always building more!   Don’t let the next ones get away!

A note from George…

We received a real nice letter from our good buddy George that I wanted to share with you…

Steve:

Do love the blog. Have looked at every blog entry several times. Like the ones about the trips in the San Gabriel Mts.  I grew up there.

Where I lived in the ’40s & ’50s, Whizzer’s were king.  If you were really the top dude you had a Marmin Twin. Not many of them as they cost more and we could hardly afford a Whizzer. Never knew anyone who had a Mustang when I was growing up; way too expensive.

I had my first and only Mustang when I lived in Hawaii.  Then fifty years later I’m  living in Washington state and read an article about a new Mustang look alike, the CSC 150, and I knew  I had to have one.

In Feb. of 2013 I bought two ( two CSC 150’s are better than one, right?).  They have been all I could have asked for.  Sure make an old dude feel young again.

As for the blog, it’s great.   I would like to see more about maintenance and adjustments…things like the blog on the proper oil to use, and the heads up on loose bolts. Even the basics like those are welcome as not all of us are mechanics.

Really like the pictures of people getting their new bikes and of the folks working on building them.

I got so envious of you guys riding in all that great weather that I decided to move to Arizona this fall. Have these two great CSCs and Washington doesn’t have very good weather for riding.

Keep up the blog and ride safe.

George

Thanks for your kind words, George, and we’ll do our best to include more of the kinds of blogs you asked about.   I’ll post one sometime this week about removing the rear wheel, and then another about adjusting your chain.

Ride safe and drop us a photo or two if you get a chance!

A blue 250, the dirty girl gets a bath, antique Russian rifles, and more…

The CSC MotoWorks just completed this ultra-cool, ultra-loaded P-51 with lots of chrome, including our stunning chromed billet wheels.   Our deep blue show-quality paint really works with chrome, and this bike sure shows it well…

_DSC0014-650

That blue P-51 is looking good, and you know what?  Spring is right around the corner, folks, and that means you might want to get ahead of the curve by getting ready for riding season now!

I’ll be washing and cleaning up the Baja Blaster later today (you can see from the photo below the old gal needs to be hosed down), and I’m going to take off the rear wheel and tire so I can get a new one next week.   I’ll take pictures so you can see how it’s done and I’ll post them here on the blog.

I was up in Paso Robles for the last two days on another secret mission.   Paso (as the locals call it) is a cool little town and the round trip from my place here in So Cal was exactly 500 miles.   I love to travel, and that’s a good thing because it makes the secret mission business a lot easier.

Just before I left on the Paso adventure, I reloaded a cool 100 rounds of 7.62 x 54R ammo for my 1940 Mosin-Nagant Russian rifle.   It’s the one I mentioned here on the blog a few weeks ago…

_DSC0065-900-650

_DSC0025-750-650

I loaded a couple of different kinds of bullets (the ones with the orange tips are from Hornady; the full metal jacket bullets are from Partizan, a Serbian company).   Making your own ammo is a lot of fun (folks like me who are really into reloading think it is as much fun as shooting).   I’m trying a couple of different kinds of bullets to see which ones are more accurate, because my buddies and I (and my daughter Eri) have an informal match thing going.   We get out to the range on a regular basis and the winner has to buy lunch for everyone.   Yep, you read that right…the winner has to buy lunch!  And as you probably guessed, I’ve been paying for a lot of lunches lately.  (I like winning more than I mind buying lunch!)

Marty is swinging by in another hour and we’re having lunch with the Geezers over at Brown’s BMW dealership….that’s always fun, and it’s nice being among a group of folks where I’m the youngest guy (it’s usually the other way around).   That said, I’m sure not complaining about the senior citizen restaurant discounts the Geezers always get…that’s the silver lining here, my friends!

That’s it for now, folks.   Stay tuned…

A cool VW…

Our Pro-One Performance Products company sells VW accessories and parts, and as a result, we get to see some very cool VWs stop by.   My new good buddy Harrison stopped by yesterday with this gorgeous Bug…

_DSC0019-650

We were thinking of having a contest to guess the displacement of Harrison’s VW, but that would be kind of obvious…

Cool stuff, folks…and there’s more to follow…

Seeing double…

Folks, if you’re looking for a deal, take a look at these two bikes that just came in on consignment….

_DSC0011-650

They’re both 2011 models, and both are super low mileage motorcycles.   One has 10 miles on the odometer, and the other has 15!   Each has about $1500 in accessories, too!

The price on these is just too low to publish.   Give us a call at 800 884 4173 and we’ll give you all the details!

That sinking feeling…

Wow, this one just hurts to even think about…it seems that a large sinkhole opened up below the Corvette Museum in Kentucky and swallowed a bunch of one-of-a-kind Vettes.   Yikes!

SH1

SH2

Wow…what a loss.   I think I will give my Corvette a pat when I get home and let her know I’m sure glad she’s okay.   No doubt you’ll be seeing this story on the evening news.

Later folks.   Watch out for sinkholes…
